All states and the District of Columbia require a license for the practice of podiatric medicine. Each license defines its own requirements which usually state that the applicant must have graduated from an accredited college of podiatric medicine and pass a written and oral examination.
Prerequisites for admissions to a podiatric college of medicine include the completion of at least 90 semester hours of undergraduate study, an acceptable GPA and suitible scores on the the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) requires a minimum of six years of schooling, which are to include at least two years of undergraduate education and four years of veterinary school. A bachelor’s degeree in biology or chemistry are helpful in a successful veterinarian. In order to do research or teach in higher education, you are required to have a Ph. D in addition to your D.V.M. Regional veterinary schools require the applicant to take the Graduate Record Exam. Obtaining experience working with a practicing veterinary is very important as well.

Dental schools require a minimum of two years of college-level pre-dental education. However, most students have at least a bachelor’s degree. Currently there are about 17 states that require a specialty license before practicing as a specialist.
All dental schools require applicants to take the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). The overall score on the DAT is considered the applicants overall grade point average (GAP), and information gathered through recommendations and interviews when selecting applicants.

As a dental hygienist, an associate’s degree is sufficient for working in a private practice office. However, a candidate must be licensed by the state in which they practice. This license can be obtained by passing both a written and a clinical examination.
In order to do research, teach, or have a clinical practice in public or school health programs you are usually required to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
Upcoming high school graduates are encouraged to take biology, chemisty, and mathematics if planning on pursuing a dental hygienist degree.

Physical Therapy is a rewarding profession, providing care that restores mobility and function in patients suffering from physical injuries or disease. A 4-year bachelor degree in a related field is recommended if you wish to go on to the masters level. BHSU requires the following courses as part of the Pre-Physical Therapy program.

Today’s pharmaceutical students must complete at least 5 years of study in an a program accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmacy takes 5 years and is the degree most students receive. A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) normally requires at least six years during which an intervening bachelor’s degree usually is not awarded. Students who have already obtained the bachelor’s degree may enter the Pharm.D. program, but the combined course of study is usually longer than six years.
