The MPH degree program is designed to prepare students to enter an array of public health fields as well as doctoral programs. The full-time educational program is structured on a quarter basis, with a total credit hour requirement of 64 credit hours. All course work must be completed within four years of the date of matriculation for the full-time program.

The MPH program requires completion of 56 credit hours. The program is designed as a cohort program based on thirteen required courses and one elective course. All fourteen courses are four credit hour courses.
This course is part of a three-course practicum sequence that is designed to provide the student with practical experience in the field based on skills acquired in class. The course introduces students to methods of data collection and analysis of epidemiological data. It focuses on community health indicators and research tools used to assess health data. Emphasis is on the research methods that are employed to identify community assets and goals; this step serves as the basic step in the process of community needs assessment which leads to the final objective, program planning. The fundamentals of various types of community health interventions will be explored.

This is a multidisciplinary health course designed for public health practitioners and others wanting to develop skills and knowledge in public health. Students undertake a number of core units covering a broad range of public health issues combined withspecialist knowledge in one major discipline. There is a choice of undertaking either a dissertation or a smaller research project combined with further coursework.

This program is housed within the Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Department. This MPH program is offered through collaboration with the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health (CEOMPH).
This nontraditional program is geared toward the working professional who would like to broaden his or her role in improving community health, enhance current job skills, or seek career advancement. Students move through the program as a cohort with core courses being taught on Saturdays by interactive videoconferencing from one of our distance learning sites. For CSU students, these courses are offered at Rhodes Tower at the main campus.

The Master of Public Health requires 42 units of approved graduate work. Twenty-seven units are core competency classes (which includes a six-unit internship) and an additional fifteen units are electives, 75% of which must be 500-level courses. Students work with a faculty adviser to select these electives to support career areas in health promotion, environmental and occupational health, gerontological health, nursing leadership, or in a special studies track such as health anthropology or health counseling or other special academic/career needs.
