At Cedar Crest College, students participate in both the scientific and applied aspects of psychology. A small student-faculty ratio allows for close personal instruction. Students have the opportunity to do research, and enroll in special topics courses such as Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Students may choose to earn their degree through daytime, evening, weekend and accelerated classes.
The Department of Psychology offers the combined advantages of a strong liberal arts college and a major university. There are classes in all major areas of the Psychology field. We encourage close student-faculty relationships and offer many opportunities for individualized study and research. We also are able to offer extensive course work and research opportunities in the biological and social sciences, management, and computer technology.
Psychology is the scientific study of human and animal behavior, cognition, and emotion. It is a broad discipline that includes both basic research and the application of research findings to everyday life. The Sacramento State Psychology Department offers an undergraduate program in General Psychology and graduate programs in Counseling Psychology, General Psychology (with specific emphasis on Psychology Doctoral Preparation), and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, students may choose course work, fieldwork, and research experiences that allow them to emphasize such areas as Clinical/Counseling, Cognitive, Developmental, Industrial/Organizational, Social, Personality, and Applied Behavior Analysis.
Psychology is the study of the aspects of mind related to human nature, our relationships to each other, and our relationship to the world at large. While psychology is often scientific in its outlook, it also includes ways of knowing and understanding the world based on philosophy, the humanities, and the arts. In this sense psychology is one of the broadest of disciplines, encompassing a wide range of academic areas and endeavors.
Psychology also recognizes the diverse cultural, economic, ethnic, historical, and political viewpoints that exist in a multicultural world. The discipline seeks to understand how these viewpoints interact with individual and group behavior in order to encourage a rich pluralism of human interaction.
If understanding human thought and behavior is at the heart of a liberal arts education, the study of psychology is at the heart of that process. For those interested in the study of human thought, emotion, and behavior, a psychology major is ideal.
Psychology students learn first about the empirical foundation of psychology. Then, through exposure to the many exciting areas encompassed in the field, students apply theory and concepts to real world problems, cases and issues-developing their analytical, communication and critical thinking skills in the process.

In order to tackle those problems, contemporary society really needs to develop human resources who can research and comprehend humanity synthetically and profoundly.
The Faculty of Human Sciences is aiming at general understanding of humans, focusing on psychology, sociology and lifelong learning with options such as cultural anthropology and social welfare. We now proudly present a brand-new Department of Psychology from spring of 2008, accompanied by existing departments of Human Sciences and Clinical Psychology, as a result of our re-evaluation on how our learning at Human Sciences can contribute to resolve those problems facing people of today.
Dominican offers in its Weekend College a combined-degree program in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor of Science/Master of Science) open to undergraduates seeking their first baccalaureate degree as well as to graduate students who already hold baccalaureate degrees in other fields. Different program tracks are designed for those who have Occupational Therapy Assistant (O.T.A.) backgrounds and those who are studying this field for the first time. The Massage Therapy Program is designed for graduates of fully accredited PTA Programs, OTR’s, and for the licensed PT, RN, and PN. This program has been developed to build on your previous academic background, and current clinical practice. While completing this certificate program, you will be trained in Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Muscle Isolation Techniques, Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Chair Massage, Acupressure, Basic Shiatsu, Business and Marketing, and Ethics. Potential work settings include: chiropractic and physician offices, sports medicine clinics, aerobic studios, beauty salons, health spas, gyms, on-site corporate massage, or your own independent business. Upon successfully completing this program, you will be certified to practice massage in Michigan as a certified massage therapist (CMT), and be able to sit for the National Certification Examination in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
The objective of this certificate is to train students with the necessary cognitive, psychomotor, and affective behaviors to provide advanced life support in the prehospital setting and to provide the necessary coursework to be licensed in the state of Nevada and nationally certified. This limited entry program offers a comprehensive and in-depth study of advanced life support skills which include pharmacology, advanced airway management procedures and skills, ECG interpretation and electrical therapy. After completion of this certificate, students may then choose to complete the next phase of the program and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paramedic Medicine. The Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoA-EMSP).
The Dental Assisting Certificate and Dental Hygiene programs are offered under the Division of Health and Rehabilitative Sciences/Allied Health Programs. These programs prepare students for specific dental health professions.
